Haryana Government Calendar 2027
All twelve months on one page, with Sundays and the holidays that Haryana offices usually observe marked. Print it, or keep it open while you plan leave for the year.
Provisional list. The Haryana Government notifies its own gazetted and restricted holidays around December each year, and the 2027 notification is not out yet. The dates below follow the Central Government list for 2027 (DoPT office memorandum of 16 July 2026), which Haryana largely follows. Haryana adds a few state holidays of its own, so check the official notification when it comes. We will update this page then.
Red = Sunday · Blue = holiday on the Central list · Amber = usually a Haryana holiday
Haryana government calendar 2027, month by month
Here are all twelve months of 2027 on one page. Sundays are shaded red and the holidays that Haryana offices usually observe are marked in blue (or amber where the date comes from the state's own practice). Hover over a marked date, or read the line under each month, to see which holiday it is. Weeks start on Monday, the way most office diaries are laid out.

Long weekends and planning your year
Of the 17 dates in the table, 15 fall on a day other than Sunday. Sorting them by the day of the week tells you how the year will feel:
- Falling on a Sunday (no extra day off): Independence Day (15 August), Guru Nanak Jayanti (14 November).
- Falling on a Saturday: Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti (2 October), Dussehra (9 October), Christmas Day (25 December). These are lost if your office is already closed that Saturday, and a gain if it works that Saturday.
- Friday holidays (a three-day break with the weekend): Good Friday (26 March), Diwali (29 October).
- Monday holidays: Mahavir Jayanti (19 April), Id-ul-Zuha (Bakrid) (17 May).
- Mid-week holidays (Tuesday to Thursday): Republic Day (26 January), Id-ul-Fitr (10 March), Holi (23 March), Dr B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti (14 April), Ram Navami (15 April), Buddha Purnima (20 May), Muharram (16 June), Janmashtami (25 August).
If you want to stretch a mid-week holiday into a longer break, the usual way is to take a day or two of casual leave on the days between the holiday and the weekend. Plan these early in the year, because the casual leave balance is limited and offices do not like many people being away on the same bridging day. The school holidays page shows the same dates with the Sundays and second Saturdays, which helps families work out when children are home as well.
Gazetted holidays and restricted holidays
A gazetted holiday, also called a public holiday, is declared in the Official Gazette. Government offices stay closed for everyone on that day, and an employee who is on duty by exception, for example in an emergency service, is compensated according to the rules that apply to that service.
A restricted holiday is a smaller, optional category. The notification lists a number of festivals and observances, and each eligible employee may choose a limited number of them in the year to suit their own faith or family custom. Offices do not close for restricted holidays, so you need to apply and have the day approved like any other short leave. The Central list for 2027 carries a long list of restricted holidays, such as Makar Sankranti, Basant Panchami, Maha Shivratri, Raksha Bandhan, Karwa Chauth and Bhai Dooj. The Haryana restricted list will come with the state notification.
How Haryana notifies its holiday list
The Central Government's Department of Personnel and Training issues the Central list in the middle of the year; for 2027 that was the office memorandum of 16 July 2026. Haryana prepares its own list separately, and the notification usually follows towards the end of the year, around December, so that offices and schools can plan the next calendar year. The state list carries the national holidays, the major festivals and a few state-specific days. It also fixes the number of restricted holidays an employee may take.
That is why this page is labelled provisional. The festival dates here come from the Central list, which Haryana largely mirrors, but the state may add or drop a day. When the Haryana notification is published, the table above will be revised, the restricted holidays will be added and the long-weekend notes will be recalculated.
Holidays and your leave
A few practical points keep leave and holidays from tripping you up:
- A holiday that falls on a Sunday does not give you a replacement day. Do not count on one unless the notification says so.
- Before you prefix or suffix holidays to a leave application, check the rules for the kind of leave you are taking. Casual leave, earned leave and other kinds of leave handle intervening holidays differently, so read the leave rule that applies to you, and ask your establishment branch if you are unsure.
- If a gazetted holiday falls on a day you are travelling on tour or working on special duty, the rules of your department decide whether you are compensated.
- For moon-based festivals, keep one eye on the final announcement. Offices usually issue a short order when the date moves by a day.
This calendar is meant to help you plan, not to replace the official notification. When the Haryana list is published, treat that as final.
Frequently asked questions
Has Haryana released its official holiday list for 2027?
Not yet, as of 24 October 2026. The Haryana Government usually notifies its list of gazetted and restricted holidays towards the end of the year, around December. This page follows the Central Government list for 2027 (the DoPT office memorandum of 16 July 2026), which Haryana largely follows, and it will be updated as soon as the state notification is out.
How many gazetted holidays are there in the 2027 list on this page?
The Central list used here has 16 gazetted holidays, and we have added Dr B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti on 14 April as a date that Haryana usually observes, so the table shows 17 dates. 2 of them fall on a Sunday (Independence Day on 15 August and Guru Nanak Jayanti on 14 November), so you do not get a weekday off for those.
Which holidays fall on a Sunday or Saturday in 2027?
Independence Day (15 August) and Guru Nanak Jayanti (14 November) fall on a Sunday. Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti (2 October), Dussehra (9 October), Christmas Day (25 December) fall on a Saturday. Whether a Saturday holiday is a loss for you depends on whether your office works that Saturday.
Which holidays give a long weekend in 2027?
Good Friday on Friday 26 March and Diwali on Friday 29 October give a Friday-to-Sunday break. Mahavir Jayanti on Monday 19 April and Id-ul-Zuha (Bakrid) on Monday 17 May gives a Saturday-to-Monday break if your office is closed on that Saturday, or a Sunday-Monday block otherwise.
What is the difference between gazetted and restricted holidays?
A gazetted (public) holiday is a day your office is closed for everyone. A restricted holiday is an optional day: from the notified restricted list an eligible employee may choose a limited number of days for their own festival. The Haryana restricted list is not published yet, so it is not shown here.
Can the date of Id-ul-Fitr, Id-ul-Zuha or Muharram change?
Yes. These depend on the sighting of the moon, so the actual day can move by one day from the date in the list. Diwali, Holi, Dussehra and similar festivals follow the panchang and are fixed in advance by the notification.
Is 14 April, Dr B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti, a Haryana holiday?
Haryana normally observes this day as a holiday. It is not on the Central list of gazetted holidays, which is why we mark it separately as a date Haryana usually observes. Please confirm it when the state notification is published.
Does this calendar include the second Saturday?
No. This is the government calendar, so it marks Sundays and holidays only. Offices in Haryana follow their own working-day pattern. The school holidays page marks the second Saturday for schools.
Can I print this calendar?
Yes. Press the Print calendar button above. The page prints the twelve months and the holiday list without the menu and footer.
Will this page be updated after Haryana notifies its own list?
Yes. When the Haryana General Administration or Human Resources department notifies the 2027 list, we will replace the provisional dates and add the restricted holidays.
